Nomad Jax Haberdashery is expanding with a new storefront in Carthage: The Garage by Nomad Jax. It will have less of a focus on clothing than the Southern Pines store and more on design pieces. You’ll find things like wall art, European antiques, Italian leather couches, vintage baseball stadium chairs and more. Owner Tom Trieloff has been dabbling in interior design at his flagship store, but wanted more space to focus on larger items.

Nearly everything you see is for sale. “We want designers to be able to come in and find real, unique, high-end stuff,” says Tom. He wasn’t looking for just anything you might find in a thrift store but rather funky, elevated pieces you won’t find online.
Like the OG shop, it’s got an eclectic, masculine mix of edgy, vintage and western vibes. “You can definitely tell it’s us, but it’s a different space so we didn’t want it to be the exact same as in Southern Pines,” says Tom. The new location will carry some brands such as Howler Brother and Red Wing Boots that aren’t in the Southern Pines location. Eventually, he wants to design his own Nomad Jax clothing line.

Nomad Jax Garage will also have a small screen printing station in the back. As a small business owner, Tom was frustrated with large minimums for custom screen printing orders, so he decided to start doing the screen printing himself. Soon, he’ll be able to do small batches of T-shirts for both his own shop and other small businesses.
The shop isn’t open yet, but you can stop by the grand opening October 4. Southern Pines Brewing Co. will be pouring beer and there will be live music to celebrate. In the meantime, catch more sneak peeks on IG.
