A Waffle-y Sweet Truck Finds its Home

Another corner of Old U.S. 1 is turning into a food truck corner, as in for one food truck: Roasted and Toasted. The business has been around for a decade, beginning as a drive-thru brick and mortar in Sanford. It has since gone totally mobile and is run across three food trucks by owner Fritz Morisset, her daughter Madison and her son, Joey. Fritz now has a five-year lease at the corner of Old U.S. 1 and S. Bennett Street, formerly home to a car dealership.

The corner, which Fritz is calling “The Lot,” is meant to be a quick grab-n-go spot, with online or app ordering available. The menu changes seasonally, but features organic coffee offerings, Belgian Liège waffles (with mix sourced straight from Belgium), paninis, Açaí bowls and smoothies. There are picnic tables and string lights already on site, and Fritz says a fire pit is in the works.

“I’m really excited about it because it’s in my community,” says Fritz, who has previously traveled all around the state with the truck. Roasted and Toasted officially opens in The Lot on Tuesday, Nov. 26. You can expect to see it parked Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., though hours are subject to change.
