Aberdeen Gets Seedy(s)

That’s right, Seedy’s Plants now has an official brick and mortar on the edge of downtown Aberdeen. Owner Rachel Turecamo first opened Seedy’s out of her apartment complex garage and supplemented with pop-up sales, but her operation quickly outgrew the space. The apartment complex said there was too much traffic, which for Rachel was a good problem to have.

Lucky for her, Aberdeen business owners were extremely supportive in helping her find a space. She landed on the 320-square-foot space on Poplar Street. “It’s been many things, but mostly it’s been a starting place for other businesses,” says Rachel, who is excited to make the quirky building into her own. The inside is still a work in progress but will eventually house indoor plants and plant supplies.

Rachel has dreamed of owning a garden center since she was 15. Her business focuses completely on the DIY customer. She says her secret to growing a successful business is cherrypicking what works from other successful businesses and applying it to Seedy’s.
