Speaking of Watchlists
If you should be on one for the amount of true crime in your Netflix history, you might want to add indie filmmaker and Southern Pines native Tait Colberg’s “country-style” thriller to yours. Inspired by that creepy feeling you can get while driving on deserted country roads late at night, “27 West” has taken home four awards.
The film stars Anthony Parks, the owner of The Ice Cream Parlor, who responded to Tait’s call for actors after people kept telling him he looked like the main character on the flyer. Spooky.
- “Some of the filming locations, I must have driven by 100 times. We shot almost entirely in Moore County and around the edges, a little in Southern Pines and a little in Pinebluff,” Tait said.
He hopes that he might be able to find a distributer for the film, but until then you can pay $2.99 to get a link that you can use to watch the film anytime. Read more and watch the trailer here.
