Can We Get An Amen?

Meet Emebet Bekele, owner of Amen Coffee House, a coffee trailer set up next to the Trax gas station in Carthage. Emebet previously worked at a Starbucks for 15 years in UNC hospitals and found a love for serving coffee. Her husband now owns the Trax gas station in Carthage and she was looking for a change of pace, so opening her own business next to his was a no-brainer. “You get to know different people and cultures when you’re making coffee,” she says.

Emebet is originally from Ethiopia. “Coffee is a big thing for us,” she says. In fact, she primarily uses Ethiopian coffee beans that she supplies from Fortuna Coffee in Greensboro. In addition to a full coffee menu (with non-dairy options), you’ll also find pastries, bagels and refreshers. Amen Coffee House is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Oct. 11-12, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Help celebrate the grand opening of Amen Coffeehouse with special treats. Cool beans.
