Taking a Stand
Beechler Farm’s new stand is taking off with products made in the slow lane. Owner Sam Beechler gained an appreciation for local farms and makers while she was in college. “I really realized the difference in the quality and nutritious value when you buy local,” says Sam. So she started buying and making products she was seeking out — clean and locally grown. “When I find a need for something, I’m like ‘oh, let me see if I can make that.'”
“There’s a big trend right now with health, wellness and the natural way of living,” she says. “I think for so long its been all about convenience, and now people are realizing the most convenient way isn’t always the best. Ultra processed stuff doesn’t make you feel as good.”

Sam has been making her own wellness products for about five years. Her rosemary oil, for hair growth, starts with seeds in her own garden. She’s also added sourdough products, all made by her mother, her grandmother and her with multiple flavors.
Sam and her husband have their hands full with the farm and their full time jobs, but Sam sees the farmstand as fulfilling her purpose. They have dogs, lambs, a pig, rabbits and nearly 30 birds (so yes, you can expect to see eggs this spring). Fresh cut flowers can be expected by early summer as well.

Find the farmstand at 13005 U.S. 15-501 in Aberdeen, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Patrons can pay with cash, Venmo or Zelle. You can also order things like sourdough ahead on the website. If you already know Beechler Farms from farmers markets and pop-ups, you’ll still see them at those, too.
