Let the Fun Be-Gin

Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko. (BHAWK) just released its Madam Colonel vodka and gin. Now any vodka and gin drinks on the bar cocktail list are made with BHAWK spirits. Owner Brad Halling says that while many businesses begin with easier distillation processes for ginand vodka, BHAWK began with the more challenging and time consuming whiskey, bourbons and ryes. Brad says you get a lot of creative freedom in the distilling process of gin as long as the main component is juniper.

Brad describes their gin as “more delicate” than a lot out there. “We’ve moved toward florals and citrus and less standard flavor profiles compared to something like a London Dry Gin,” he says. The bottles are being sold at BHAWK now and Brad is hoping to get them to ABC stores in the next several weeks. “We went back and forth on the bottle design for months to get the colors just right,” he laughs. “They came out really beautiful.”
