A pet boutique has put its paws on the second storefront in The Princess Theatre, at 143 NE Broad St. in downtown Southern Pines. Moore County native Gracie Scarboro opened Urban Pet Co. this weekend. “I always wanted to work at a store like this, so I figured I would open my own place,” says Gracie. “I couldn’t have asked for a better location.”
Urban Pet Co. is dog-focused, but there are cat products as well. Gracie’s main goal is to offer dog and cat foods without fillers, including raw food.
“It began because I was looking for healthy snacks for my own dog,” says Gracie. “It’s easy for dogs to get chunky from a lot of foods out there and that can hurt their joints.”
You can shop pet accessories like beds, collars and treats and try Grounds for Hounds Coffee, which donates to rescues for every bag sold. Those who stop in with their dogs can also take advantage of a photo op in front of the store.
Store hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
- Saturday, Dec. 14, noon to 2 p.m.: Bring your pups to meet Santa at Urban Pet Co. Good boys and girls get a treat bag.
