Finders, Keepers

Beginning Wednesday, May 1, your little one may find a little one while playing. And yes, they can bring it home. Southern Pines Parks and Rec director Cindi King says, “We’ve actually had this idea for a long time. Our office is right above the Arts Council, so we’ve always wanted to do something with art.” Called Park Pals, they’ll be hidden throughout the month at various Southern Pines parks.

Jean Skipper of ARTWorks Vass hand-made all the little guys she calls “critters.” There are around 60 critters total. “It was like this marriage of ideas that came together,” Cindi says. “She did a fabulous job.” One of the goals for her department, she says, is to create more interaction on social media so people know how much the town has to offer the community. “We’d love to see people share their Park Pals online once they find them,” says Cindi.
