Crossroads Coffee in Vass is celebrating its 10th anniversary this Friday, Nov. 14. The coffee shop started with a group of five men, all in the military and all avid coffee lovers. But they often deployed, and sometimes all at once. So one of their wives, Mollie Jolly, and her friend Kasi Caddell stepped in to run the business. Over time, the two women gradually bought out the original owners.

Since 2015, both the town and the coffee shop have grown dramatically. “Vass was so small then and there was not much here, so it was definitely taking a chance on something,” says Mollie. Through the last decade, the women have learned the importance of partnering with other businesses in the community. They boosted hometown pride with Vass t-shirts and helped organize the annual Vass tree lighting with ArtWorks Vass.

“We’re really shocked at how successful a small-town coffee shop has turned out to be,” says Kasi. “We get to have a good Christmas party and give Christmas bonuses and things like that. It’s really rewarding,” adds Mollie.

In the coming months, customers can expect to see a few upgrades to the interior. “At first, it was more rustic and antique-y. Now we’re excited to show that we are a female-owned business. We want to add some girly touches,” says Kasi.

Stop in 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The 10-year celebration this Friday will include specials, giveaways and a new drop of Crossroads Coffee merch. Stay caffeinated.
