Let’s Vase It
Looking for a quintessential fall experience but feel like it’s too early for pumpkin picking? Check out My Friend’s Farm (yes that’s the name, not a personal plug). Located off Linden Road, the farm has rows and rows of fall blooms for you to wander through and build your own bouquets. Choose from dahlias, sunflowers, daisies and more. After you’re through picking, there are picnic tables with supplies to help you make arrangements.

Owner Tera Hendrix has been growing flowers for the past three years and hustled bouquets. “But I knew that wasn’t ‘it.’ I wanted to create an experience,” she says. Everywhere she and her husband have lived has had something like this, she says.

U-pick is priced by jar/vase/cup/bucket but some grab-no-go bouquets will also be available. “My intention is to create a place to catch your breath and pick some pretty flowers,” says Tera.

For now, the farm is open to the public Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., which allows flowers time to regrow during the week. Tera wants to add on curated events but that might not happen until next season. The farm could be open for picking until the first freeze. Stay up to date via Facebook, and find it at 149 Rembrandt Lane in Aberdeen. There will be signs that say “follow the flowers.”
