After renting space in Southern Pines and Pinehurst for 20 years, First Tee of the Sandhills is planning to plant roots in Cameron. Plans include a 28,000-square-foot putting area, a nine-hole par-3 course, a driving range, a clubhouse, and a STEM and nature area. “Purchasing land in this U.S. 1 corridor was our focus from day one because it would allow for maximum impact down the road,” executive director Courtney Stiles said. A timeline for the project has not been set.
