From the Window to The Wall
Meet Lacey Crime, a muralist and window painter who has completed close to 200 business signs and original designs across North and South Carolina, including The Cigar Shop and Furniture in the Pines. The veteran and her active-duty husband make home wherever the Army sends them, but she’s been in the area since 2010 and the bulk of her work can be seen in the Sandhills and the Triangle. And no, her last name has nothing to do with the fact she listens to true crime podcasts while painting.

When Lacey had children, she began letter painting on the nursery walls. Word of her talent spread and she began doing other small projects. 2024 is the first year she focused on the business full-time.
Lacey has painted giant murals for Youtuber Mr. Beast’s Squidgame video, as well as walls at well elementary schools, businesses and homes. One of her favorites is of an astronaut at The Haymount Truck Stop. “It’s retro and futuristic which is really fun,” she says.

“I’m a mom of four, so murals are my getaway,” she says. “I have my earbuds in and have that free time to be creative.” She fills in time between murals with window painting (which is oh-so-satisfying to watch). “Everyone always says they wish we could bring back window painting on business fronts,” says Lacey. “For me, it’s a nice break from murals. It’s not so permanent and there isn’t the same stress.”
