Get an Umbrella Drank
It’s officially drinks on the patio season and Poplar Place is leveling up the game. Out back Thursday through Sunday, you can enjoy the tiki bar that will be serving up frozen cocktails like piña coladas, strawberry daiquiris, Blue Hawaiians and more. They can be made both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Owner Nate Lonnen once lived in Oahu, where he worked at a beach bar. “There’s just something so relaxing and awesome about drinking a frozen cocktail when it’s hot. Unless you’re at the beach, no one does ’em,” he says.
You can still get regular drinks from inside but expect any of the frozen drinks to come in a fun tiki-style cup complete with an umbrella, of course. Or, if you’re taking advantage of the social district, they can make yours to-go.

Starting this Wednesday, April 1, Poplar Place will also be open for “Happy Hour.” Nope, it’s not a joke, you can enjoy specials Wednesdays only, from 4-8 p.m. Since opening in February, the bar is slowly ramping up with events, too. The next one is a cigar and bourbon tasting happening Tuesday, April 21. “The coolest thing is to see how happy this place makes people,” says Nate. Slurp it down.
