Have you met the women who pull off the annual Wine in the Pines event? The Junior League of Moore County (JLMC) is a nonprofit organization of women who work to provide basic needs to women and children in the community. Junior League partners with organizations like Friend to Friend and the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. They even work to keep the North Moore Food Pantry and the area’s Little Free Libraries stocked.
“We’re a small but mighty league of women. It’s our hallmark event.”

There are currently 70 members in the local chapter, all eager to make a difference. “We’re a small but mighty league of women,” says chapter president, Lindsay Mason.
To pull off all of the charitable work, The Junior League of Moore County hosts several fundraising events throughout the year, including Wine in the Pines, their largest event of the year, held at the Fair Barn.

At the event, attendees will sample 10 specialty wines and enjoy live music from the Stone Dolls, wine pulls, raffles, a silent auction and more. Southern Way Catering will provide dinner, and a wine sommelier will be in the crowd to test your wino knowledge. Anyone over 21 is welcome. The annual event has a semi-formal dress code — because drinking wine at home in your pajama pants is fun, but we all love an opportunity to get dressed up.

JLMC began the Wine in the Pines fundraiser 12 years ago. All of the money raised goes directly back into Moore County. “Every year we grow,” says Lindsay. Last year JLMC raised over $30k at Wine in the Pines.
The league is still looking for donations for the silent auction and sponsorships for the 2025 Wine in the Pines. The chapter loves to support and promote small businesses.
Lindsay says the chapter is resourceful. “We’ve evolved our mission to fit needs in the area over time. We saw a shift for more basic necessities after COVID,” she says. “We really try and get our hands in as many things as we can to make the largest impact we can.”
“A sense of community is essential to human wellbeing,” says Lindsay, who believes giving back is rewarding but the relationships built along the way are just as important.
