Rolled ice cream, a concept born on the streets of Thailand, has landed in Pinehurst thanks to a longtime restaurateur and Thailand native. Scrollicious is the brainchild of Tuk Phassukkan, who owns Whispering Woods Cafe and Thai Fusion along with Anthony Becke. The two are also part owners of Southern Angel Donut Co.

“We thought that Pinehurst could use an ice cream shop,” Anthony says, “and we wanted to do something a little different than a cone and a scoop. This is like a hibachi restaurant, where everything is made right in front of you. You’re getting ice cream and a show.”

Customers can choose a gelato, soy or almond milk base, hand-pick other ingredients, and watch as they are chopped, smooshed and blended together before being rolled up and gently placed in a cup ($4). Not a fan of ice cream? First of all, what is wrong with you, but second of all, Scrollicious will also feature boba tea ($3.59) and smoothies ($4.79).

Scrollicious is in Olmstead Village, next to Thai Fusion, and is open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
