Red, White and Brew
What do you get when three veteran-owned breweries collaborate on a new product? Cue the sound of a screeching eagle, the sweet smell of liberty and the most ‘Merican beer you can find. Hatchet Brewing, Southern Pines Brewing Co. and Railhouse Brewery partnered to make the ‘Merican beer, an Independence Day Ale.
The ‘Merican beer is a sour IPA with 6.8% ABV. It’s got a light body and has a strong citrus taste. In other words, it’s meant to be refreshing for summer. “It hits the spot,” says Thomas Vincent, head brewer at Hatchet Brewing.
The brewing of this beer took about a week to complete. “This style of beer is a very time consuming process,” says Thomas, “but it’s worth the work.” It’s tart with a complex blend of Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, & Nelson Sauvin hops.
The breweries began discussing the collab several months ago and had it ready to go in time to celebrate Independence day. It is a limited batch so expect it to run out soon after the fourth of July.
“We want to do something like this annually at least. Not just for the beer but for the comradery,” says Jason Hull, head brewer of Railhouse Brewery. “The best part of the whole process was spending time with the other breweries,” he says, “It was great to share knowledge.”
“We are really proud of how it turned out,” says David Robinson, a brewer from Southern Pines Brewing Co.
Made In America
The 16 oz. can displays a strong Americana theme along with all three logos. You can find the beer at each of the breweries. It’s available on draft and as 4-packs.
