Habañero’s Taqueria is adding spice with a new Mexican grocery store attached to the restaurant. Owner Javier Alvarez says he has been renting the space anyway and decided to expand the business into San Judas Tienda Mexicana, which opened mid-September.
You can find various Mexican candies, sodas, spices, tamale corn husks and more. You’ll also find piñatas and even pottery pieces in the back.
The icing on top? The store also has a baked goods case filled with Mexican style breads. Enjoy sweet breads, conchas, cheesy jalapeño bread and more. Bread and sweets prices range from $1.25 to $4.
San Judas Tienda Mexicana plans to have the same hours as the restaurant, closing Sundays. Find it at 207 W. Morganton Road, Southern Pines.
