Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Swank Coffee Shoppe hosts an open mic night with Scarlet Tantrum in downtown Southern Pines. All creatives are welcome. Mic drop.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 6-9 p.m.: Join a Trunk or Treat at James Creek Cider House with candy, cider slushes for kids, cider for adults, games and a food truck. Don’t have to bob for these apples.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 6:30 p.m.: Bring your pawty animal for a dog halloween costume contest at Southern Pines Brewing Co. on Pennsylvania. Boos & Barks.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 8 p.m.: Railhouse Brewery hosts its Halloween costume contest with DJ Kimmy. Life’s a witch.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 8:30 p.m.: Get ready to put a spell on ’em during O’Donnell’s Pub’s costume party and Karaoke night. 

Friday, Nov. 1, 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Participate in The Bell Tree Tavern’s annual halloween party with live music inside and out. Costume contest winner gets a $200 cash prize. Fa-boo-lous.

Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m.: Join Moore Equine Feed & Pet Supply for a Howl-o-ween 2k fun walk. Bring your four-legged friend in costume for contest during. Games will follow and dogs get a party favor. Dancing with the wolves.

Saturday, Nov. 2, 8 p.m. until: Join Retro Studio Bar for its annual Halloween rager with wine, costumes, a DJ and more. Who will ya be?

Through Nov. 2, 8:15 pm. to midnight: Visit the clowns at the Aberdeen Fear Factory during the indoor haunt’s 14th year. We all float here.

PAST EVENTS:

Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Dance it out at the Til We Are Ghosts Halloween Rave with a costume party, DJ sets, jello shots and more. Bat to the bone.

Friday, Oct. 11, 7-8 p.m.: Get ready for the Paddle Under the Stars Spooktacular with Southern Pines Parks and Rec. Listen to spooky ghost stories while paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing. Bring your own flash light. This is a free event for those 18+ but register as space is limited.

Friday, Oct. 18, 5-6:45 p.m.: Join downtown Southern Pines businesses for Boo Fest. Kids can trick-or-treat at local businesses then go to downtown park for activities, crafts and a best dog costume contest. BOO!

Friday, Oct. 18, 4-6 p.m.: Downtown Aberdeen hosts its own candy crawl at local businesses, followed by a movie at Aberdeen Lake Park. It’s candy time.

Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.: Aberdeen Lake Park is showing a free outdoor movie. See “Ghostbusters Frozen Empire” and grab some concessions that will be available for purchase. Bring a chair or blanket. Who ya gonna call?

Friday, Oct. 18, 7-11 p.m.: Get ready for Fright Night Adult Prom with DJ Saxy. Wear prom attire or a costume and dance the night away at The Country Club of Whispering Pines. Get tix here.

Saturday, Oct. 19, 2-4 p.m.: Join Guidon Pediatric Therapy for an open house and fall festival with a bounce house, trick or treating, face painting and more. Find it at 444 Mill Creek Road, Whispering Pines.

Saturday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 31: Enjoy the self-guided Creepy Critter Crawl at Weymouth Woods — if you dare. Hike the 0.3-mile Bower’s Bog trail during this replacement for the annual trick-or-treat trail, which was canceled due to staffing needs regarding recovery efforts in WNC. It’s geared for ages 3-10 and open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eek.

Saturday, Oct. 19, 7-11 p.m.: Scream your head off at Sycamore Lodge, where you’ll walk through a spooky trail and multiple themed haunted houses. Cost is $10/ person and proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Sunday, Oct. 20: This is the deadline for submitting your short film (1-5 minutes) for the inaugural Microween Film Fest at Hugger Mugger Brewing in Sanford. Screening will happen Oct. 26. Anyone with a spooky story to tell is welcome — see submission guidelines here. 

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 6 p.m.: Bring the doggos for Howl-o-ween at Southern Pines Growler Co. There will be a scary good dog costume contest. Woof.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 7-9 p.m.: Indulge in a halloween candy and wine pairing at The Village Wine Shop Aberdeen. Get tickets here, wino.

Friday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m.: Head to Aberdeen Lake Park for an outdoor movie away from the kids. See the horror movie “Us” on the big screen, play yard games and sip on beers. Frights and pints.

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26-27, 8:15 p.m.: Enjoy the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Sunrise Theater’s outdoor stage. Dress up, sing and do the time warp. Tickets are $10.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: The Vass Farmers Market hosts its first fall festival here will be a pumpkin patch with straw bales and corn stalks, mums and flowers, craft vendors, coffees and teas, and food trucks at Sandy Ramey Keith Park. Don’t be a scaredy cat.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 1-3 p.m.: Splash & Dash Groomerie and Boutique holds its Howl-o-ween Costume Party and dog costume contest. Woof.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 1-8 p.m.: Engine Room ’87 (the bar train) is hosting a Halloween costume party. There’s no cover charge, just buy what you pour at this DIY beer, wine and cider pour bar. Let’s go ghouls.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 5-9 p.m.: Twigg & Co. hosts Meet and Treat with live music, an outdoor market, $3 drinks, trick-or-treat and costume contest. Scary fun.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m.: Manifest Boutique hosts Witches Night Out. Show up in costume, enjoy some drinks and shop a sale. Spooktacular.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 7-8:30 p.m.: Imagine Youth Theater presents The Addams Family live on stage. Get tix, darling.

Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Have a ghoul time during Rec Room’s Adult Halloween party complete with a costume contest, DJ and fall cocktails. This is thriller.

Sunday, Oct. 27, noon to 4 p.m.: Get to pet something creepy and crawly at Dunrovin during its Halloween celebration. Fangs for the memories.

Sunday, Oct. 27, 2-5 p.m.: The Carthage Museum will be telling spooky stories. Families can enjoy treats and dress up for the tales. Does this give you deja-boo?

Tuesday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.: DJ Mike hosts Halloween trivia + a costume contest at Southern Pines Brewing Co. on Pennsylvania. I always feel like somebody’s watching meeeeeee.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m.: Bring the fam for pumpkin carving and painting at The Bell Tree Tavern. There will be kids games, music and more. Cost is $15 and includes a kids meal. Creepin it real.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m.: Warm up your vocal cords for Scary-oke at Red’s Corner. La, la, la, laaa.
