Filling Your Cup

To the brim — because at last we have an update on what will be moving into the Outpost Building. It’s called Brim. The name is new to us, but the faces aren’t. You may know Miah Magno and Daniel Gironda from their meal prep business, OTG Fresh, or managing the Sandhills Community College Cafeteria. If not, perhaps you’ve seen their musical performances at a local bar. While they still plan to do all of that, they are now jumping into the coffee world. We imagine they’ll need a lot of it to keep up all those hustles.

Brim will have breakfast, lunch, pastries, Italian cream sodas, speciality lattes and more. There will be staple items with some rotating specials and grab-and-go options. Daniel says he is most excited about the Monte Cristo sandwich. “It’s sweet and savory. Plus, that’s the kind of food I would want after I go to play golf or something like that. Sometimes you just want a breakfast sandwich.” Which is another reason you can order breakfast all day long.

The name “brim” speaks to a cup being full literally and metaphorically. “Since this space has been so deeply loved by the community, it’s also a place filled to the brim with laughter and love,” says Miah. “Brim is really a passion project for us.” The couple plans to keep the vibe of the building with a classic look, though the setup will change a bit. The service counter will extend outside of what was initially the postmaster’s office (where you would previously order coffee), so that the room can function as more of a kitchen.

The couple also has plans for Brim to stay open later and transition into more of a dessert bar in the evenings. Eventually their goal is to get a beer and wine license and bring in live music. “We want to bring some life to the building after hours,” says Daniel. They are hoping to be open by early September and they plan to have a grand opening celebration. The Given Tufts bookshop will operate as normal until Brim is fully open, as the restaurant plans to do most of the work in the evenings. The opening date is TBD.
