Shell-ebrate a New Opening

Ready to sea some food? Coast, a new mom-and-pop style seafood joint, officially opened in Vass today (Thursday). Owner Matt Delle describes the menu as “eclectic,” offering grilled and fried items such as Calabash and New England style baskets, hushpuppies, crab cakes, crab legs and grilled shrimp. You can even get a slice of birthday cake with cotton candy whipped cream.

Matt’s goal is to bring back some of the nostalgic feel of old seafood shacks. The inside sports a cozy and, heh, dive-y feel with decor and blue hues that really rep the coastal scene. “Even though most of my experience is in fine dining, I want it to be a good price point for families,” Matt told us back in February. He also owns Roast in Whispering Pines. Fans have been commenting online that Toast, a breakfast restaurant, should come next.

Coast has indoor and outdoor seating; one room of the building features a roll-up garage door for days when the heat index is not 112 degrees. Matt plans to bring in live music this fall as well. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Swim over.
