Let’s (L)ink Up
There’s a new spot in Carthage to work toward your life goal of becoming a tattooed grandma: Munson Art and Design, aka MAD Ink. Owner Tyler Munson has been creating art his entire life, from oil paintings to sculpting to welding. “Tattooing just became another medium,” he says.

The studio is located in the back of the Tyson Sinclair building. “This place felt like magic when I walked in,” says Tyler, who has curated the space to have an intimate and moody vibe. The walls are decorated with some of his paintings, which he likes to fill with symbolism. And yes, he does take commissions.

Tyler began tattooing as another outlet for creativity after getting out of the military. He specializes in realism tattoos but can do lots of styles. “I love details,” he says. Check out his work on Instagram and book an appointment Wednesday through Saturday by emailing madinkartstudio@gmail.com.
