You may know April Nayman, co-owner of Marie & Marcele Boutique in Southern Pines and Jacqueline’s in Pinehurst, but you may not know that she’s also a breast cancer survivor. Her passion is outfitting women with theright, well, outfit, but also with the tools that helped her work through thedisease.

“Right away, talk about it,” she says. “Tell your family and find your support system.” But most of all? Don’t. Panic.

“Don’t always think the worst. Often, the odds are that you have just as good a chance for a positive outcome than a negative one. Don’t focus on it either; work, stay busy, go through your life acting like it’s a cold because it’s really more logical to think it’s going to be fine.”

Both boutiques will donate 10 percent of sales this month to the Moore Free and Charitable Clinic, which helps underinsured women get access to screenings and treatment.
