Air Force Veterans Lindy and Ryan Lamielle have reimagined a portion of the first commercial brick building in Aberdeen as The X on Main, an upstairs space housing several offices as well as a shared kitchen, bathroom and a modern plug-and-play conference room.

Seeing a need for space for new and established business, the couple started work on the 121-year-old building — their first commercial real estate project — in March 2020 and finished extensive renovations this April. Their first tenant was signed the day they opened.

‘We had a huge support system,” says Lindy, crediting in particular the Small Business Center at Sandhills Community College. “We learned, we asked for help, we freaked out, and we asked for help again. I don’t think there was one point of contact who wasn’t willing to help us figure it out along the way.”

Oh, and the X? It stands for Executive. “There’s so much we could do with the space,” Lindy says. “This is our first vision; it might not be the last.”
