The New Concept is Here Beer
The Buggy Factory by Southern Pines Brewing Co. is officially reopening this Friday, Dec. 20 with a revamped concept — being a brewery first with food meant to complement the beer. The simplified menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, smash burgers, salad, fries, pretzels and New York style pizza.
“Before it was a nice restaurant with wonderful, elevated food and fancy cocktails, but it was higher priced, more formal and it just did not resonate with this community,” says owner Micah Niebauer. The new, relaxed vibe includes large TVs, and customers will seat themselves and either order food at the bar or by scanning a QR code.
Chef Chuck Jones has an extensive culinary background but is excited to be making food that he enjoys eating when he’s not working. He is also using SPBC beer for many of the recipes, like the beer cheese and barbecue sauce. Darell Yates, formerly of HomeGrown in Vass (which closed in October), has been tapped as GM.
Eventually the team plans to bring back “Buggy Nights,” with live music on the outdoor stage, but for now the company is focused on “making a community space.” The Buggy Factory will be open 3-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 3-10 p.m. Friday through Saturday. See the menu.
