The Leadmine will be serving up chef-crafted cocktails from 4-10 p.m. at The Belvedere Plaza in Southern Pines. Expect a free-flowing network of small, private spaces meant to encourage actual conversation between you and your Tinder date.
“We weren’t going to try to turn this into a sit-down restaurant,” says co-owner Sonja McCarrell. “We can’t force this space to be something that it is not. Each room has a different personality.”
Don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot. Patrons will order from mobile units, paying as they go; and be encouraged to share their food. As the owners and chefs insist, it is not a restaurant, but a place to either start your night or keep the party going — and share the experience with others. “Through our food truck (Stacks) and different events we have learned what people want,” says co-owner Orlando Jinzo. “They want to be a part of a community.”
The Leadmine’s hours, starting Wednesday, will be 4-10 p.m. on weekdays and 4-midnight Friday-Saturday.
