Red’s Corner Debuts ‘The Paddock’

Southern Pines’ food truck campus has opened a space for indoor dining and events, with seating for up to 150 and its own bar. Formerly home to Thyme and Place and Pollywog’s Play Pad, the building at 155 Hall Ave. will also continue to house a commissary kitchen.

“We’re responding to people wanting to have private events, as well as a heated and air-conditioned space during weather extremes,” says Red’s Corner owner Scott Bertrand. The Paddock opened today (Thursday) and will be open this Friday starting at 3:30 p.m.; look for weekend hours on IG.
Plans also include an attached patio, a green space behind the trucks for additional picnic seating, and a permanent stage that could make it possible to have performances from full bands. The stage will go where the playground is now; an upgraded playground is on Scott’s wishlist.

“We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished at Red’s and we’re ready to build on that,” Scott says, adding that his team will keep working with the town of Southern Pines on improved parking. Yeehaw.
