Rhizome Houseplants announced today (Monday) that it would be going out of business. The shop has had multiple locations over the last five years and has been in its Cameron location since October 2024 selling rare houseplants, comics, coffees, antiques and more. In a Facebook post, the shop wrote “the cost of goods and shipping has risen significantly over the past few years and created a very difficult environment for small businesses to thrive.”

“With the rising cost of goods and the uptick in chain stores, it has become unsustainable to continue forward,” owner Chelsea Fields said. She added that one of her favorite things about being in business was providing advice to aspiring plant parents and “seeing them grow in their confidence.”

• The shop is offering 25% off all comics and 50% off all plants and retail until closing day on Saturday, May 17. Stop in 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
