Run With The Sun
The Rock ‘N Run 5K has undergone a rebrand — but don’t worry, it’s keeping its heart and sole. It will now be a morning event called the Rise ‘N Run. This marks the 10th year of the run to benefit Friend to Friend, a nonprofit that supports survivors of sexual assault, sex trafficking and domestic violence. “We thought it was the perfect time to do a rebrand and rename,” says Casey Halferty, director of outreach and volunteers, “and with [Southern Pines Brewing Co.] closing, we were tasked with finding a new venue and location.” This year the entire run and festivities will take place at the NAV.

Expanding the number of participants has always been a goal, so they thought moving the run from a Friday night to a Saturday morning could also work in their favor. The 5K will still have a band, food trucks and kids corner because the event is about more than just the runners. A coffee truck will be on site this year too.
- “I like that it’s a unique event and it’s different than a lot of the other things we do. I think it’s a really fun way to spread awareness about our services. It’s also just a fun way to get outside and practice healthy habits,” says Casey.
The Rise ‘N Run takes place Saturday, April 18. Ticket prices increase after March 31.
