Read Between the Wines

A business Amy Truckner started at pop-up markets a little over a year ago has evolved into a full bookstore/bottle shop/bar. “My friends are all book and beer kinda people,” says Amy, which is why she decided to start Sips & Sequels. Although a brick and mortar was the goal all along, Amy has had even more interest than she could’ve imagined since opening her shop in Sanford in December.

“We have events or book clubs what feels like every day,” says Amy. Her goal was to create a community space, and the shop hosts a writer’s club, craft nights and more. The beer community and book community are two sides of the same coin in Amy’s eyes.

She crafted the space with lots of cozy corners and nooks. “It’s a different vibe than your standard bar,” she says. “I wanted a calming atmosphere.” Drip coffee is available as well as wine, cider, cans of beer, THC beverages and a rotating brewery on tap each month. 

The Sips & Sequels book selection specializes in romance, fantasy and horror but is not exclusive to those genres. You’re also welcome to bring in your own book if you want to just have a drink and read. Other bookish items like t-shirts, stickers and more are for sale, too.
