Small Plates, Big Flavors
Santé is kicking off its aperitif menu and introducing chef Beth Newman. Beth recently moved to the area from Texas, where she owned two restaurants of her own. She landed in Pinehurst because one of her daughters lives nearby but Savannah and Charleston were also in the running. “Live somewhere you want to vacation,” she says. She wasn’t interested in being in the kitchen full time anymore but both Santé and her side gig, Fig & Fromage, allow her to keep her passion for food fresh.

Santé’s menu is comprised of tapas, and all but one dish is gluten free. As a celiac herself, gluten free options are important to Beth. She’s also big on making everything from scratch. You’ll find menu items like crispy Brussel sprouts, figgy brie, salads, meatballs and more. Plating is important too, not only to fit the vibe, but Beth believes your eyes eat first — “or, this day and age, your camera eats first,” she laughs.
In addition to the tapas, wine and cocktails, you can also order coffees. Beth is personally a fan of an evening espresso but says it’s also popular with the sober-curious.

Beth is also assisting with curating the guest experience with owner Mary Schlaff for events like like movie nights on the patio that come with a special menu, workshops and more. “I want to stay in the creative process,” says Beth. Expect to see some adjusted hours of operation soon (and possibly a Sunday brunch) but for now Santé will open at 1 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and you’ll be able to order tapas starting at 4 p.m. Stay updated via IG.
