More Than Just Florals for Spring

This really is groundbreaking. We chatted with a few local boutiques to see what’s trending and what you’ll see in stores this season.

:: Courtney’s Shoes tells us that jellies, the clear shoe of girlhood, is back in adult sizes and really popular in nearly every silhouette across brands. You’ll also find sporty Mary Janes and woven materials. As for sneakers? The Courtneys (owners Courtney Kilpatrick and Courtney McGuirt) say sleek is replacing chunky.

:: Manifest Boutique says cardigans and mini skirts are everywhere right now. Pastels are dominating spring with pops of neon. Owner Rylee Bowman is calling one of the season’s biggest trends “soft power” because it’s a mix of sporty and girly, with lacy or soft colors being paired with sportier cuts.

:: Monkee’s of the Pines owner Veronica Lloyd says even denim is coming in pastel hues. While butter yellow isn’t quite as popular as last year, it’s still around along with pistachio green. Sets seem to be favored over dresses this season and, we’ll hold all millennial hands while saying this, but mid- to low-rise jeans are back.

:: Denker Dry Goods agrees that classics are back with fun twists. Manager Emily Hodges says polka dots are popping back onto the scene along with bold stripes and nautical vibes. Navy is also anchoring a lot of the looks this year.
