Rebekah and Joe Granato, owners of Star Ridge Aquatics in Carthage are spilling the tranquili-tea after more than 30 years of installing peaceful water gardens in Moore County yards. Star Ridge is the only full-service aquatic nursery and pond supply center in North Carolina, and one of the few that grows the aquatic plants it sells on site.
Custom Moore County Water Gardens
A Sandhills Community College horticulture program graduate, Joe Granato established Star Ridge Aquatics in 1993. From Koi ponds to basalt fountains, the company can custom fit water features into any space. Imagine enjoying your morning coffee to the sound of a trickling waterfall before the kids are up and screaming. Speaking of kids, the business can create waterfalls without a pond or other water reservoir to keep your children and pets safe.
“When you have a water feature it’s a multi-sensory experience,” Joe says. “You have the movement of the water, you have the fish, the plants, and the wildlife the water attracts. If it freezes in the winter, you have a sculpture. It gives back in every season.”
You might think your yard or garden is too small for a water feature, but Star Ridge offers fountains in multiple styles and sizes, one that can add to the sensory appeal of almost any outdoor space.
“We enjoy creating beautiful things at Star Ridge Aquatics. We can take a blank space and create a water feature that awakens the senses,” says Rebekah Granato. “There’s nothing quite like the relaxing sound of flowing water. Our clients enjoy their ponds as they relax in the warm lighting, listen to the water flow, delight in blooming water lilies, and watch the fish happily swim around.”
Joe says their water gardens are built to last, and add value for those working from home or spending more time at home during retirement. Features can also add resale value for new buyers. After your custom pond, fountain or water feature is complete, Star Ridge also services, maintains and cleans ponds all season long. They also stock supplies like pumps, filters, and lighting. Their ability to take a project from start to finish has earned them the business of corporate clients like FirstHealth.
Joe and Rebekah have built Star Ridge Aquatics as a destination for the community as well as a showcase of all they can do. Visitors are welcome to get an up-close look at the on-site gardens, enjoy meandering paths, marvel at the fish, watch the chickens or pick their own fruit as the season allows.
Customers can purchase fresh eggs all year long. In the summertime you’ll find heirloom tomatoes, muscadine grapes and honey. As a family owned and operated business, the Granatos say they are “100% invested and feel so privileged to call Moore County home.”
