Streetwear Meets Fairway Fashion
The Village of Pinehurst is leveling up its golf clothing game again with Malbon, a new store that just moved in. Malbon is a brand that combines streetwear with golf apparel. “It really brings more personality to golf,” says general manager Sara Bryant. The brand was created in 2017 by Stephen and Erica Malbon, who are from Los Angeles. Now the brand is sold internationally; the Pinehurst location marks its 10th brick and mortar nationally. “Pinehurst is the home of golf,” so it was only a matter of time before Malbon arrived, according to Sara.
Malbon’s mission is “to make the green the common ground.” To really drive the message home, the founders included a putting green in the store to help you test out Malbon putters and get you talking with other shoppers or employees. “Meeting new people is a big part of golf, too,” says Sara.
Each of Malbon’s stores typically has an exclusive T-shirt and sweatshirt found only in that store, and customers can expect to see one in Pinehurst soon. New drops happen seasonally but smaller collabs are constant. Sara says that “if you see something you want, you gotta get it because it doesn’t always last.”
The brand is especially proud of its offerings for women, bringing a variety of cuts and styles to a traditionally male dominated sport. “You can be fashionableand perform well,” says Sara. Also in store is a line of kid clothes as well as accessories like head covers, shoes, hats, gloves, ball markers and more. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
