What kind of newsletter would we be to leave you hanging with nothing to read during summer break? Whether you need a confidence boost, are aching for inspiration or have the itch to travel, we’ve compiled a #swaysix list for your summer reading needs — there’s no theme, just books we read and liked and thought you would, too. They aren’t all 2022 releases, but most can be found at or ordered from The Country Bookshop.
For when you want a little romance:
This double perspective, written from a double perspective, is about two authors who have to put aside their differences to cowrite another book. While holed up at a house in Florida to write, their ~creative differences~ heat up in this page-turner beach read. PSA: Prepare for all the feelings.
For when you need to laugh:
This book is comprised of short, easy to read blurbs about everyday anxieties — like putting together emails. The title alone captured our attention, because same, but the humor is what kept us reading. It was a nice reminder that no one is alone and we’re all only human.
For when you need inspiration:
Like a self-help book, this one is written in an easy to digest way. It asks you questions so you can make a shift in your life to live in a way that brings you joy.
Not currently in stock at The Country Bookshop but you can inquire about it being ordered. Read more about the book here.
For when you’re feeling wanderlust:
This book is part history, part adventure but tells the true tales of women who once worked for the airline giant of the world: Pan Am. This one made us want to wing it and just go travel the world.
Available in both paperback or hardback. Read more or order here.
For when you need a confidence boost:
We pride ourselves on being *extra* but this book helped us reinforce that our “too muchness” isn’t an issue. It gives practical advice and wisdom from woman to woman. Also, Luvvie isn’t afraid to say what the hell she’s thinking, which is pretty entertaining.
Not currently in stock at The Country Bookshop but you can always check with staff to see if it can be ordered. Read more about the book here.
For when you need a new perspective:
It’s fiction but it made us ponder a lot in our own lives. It’s also got a time travel element to feed your sense of adventure. Would you do something differently if you had the chance to relive your choices? We’d definitely rethink all those Limewire music downloads.
