We All Scream Swing for Ice Cream

Mulligans Creamery, a golf-themed premium ice cream shop opens to the public this Friday, Sept. 11. The shop has 32 flavors including vegan, sugar-free and dairy-free options. Get yours as a scoop, shake or sundae. Owners Dawn and Greg say you can expect to see seasonal flavors like pumpkin pie and eggnog coming soon. To our delight, many of the ice cream names are cheeky such as, “This $@&! Just Got Serious” and “Exhausted Parent.”

Dawn and Greg designed the whole concept with community in mind. “We want families and kids to come sit and have ice cream and actually talk instead of being on a cell phone,” says Greg. They even added a step for kids to be able to see into the ice cream cases on their own. “One of our goals was to be a pillar in the community, so we’re trying to get there quickly,” says Greg.

They’ve employed 30 scoopers so far, many of whom are in their first jobs. The creamery is also sponsoring multiple local sports teams. “We want to give kids a chance,” says Greg. Hours will be Monday through Thursday noon to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 8 p.m. Find it at 439 Capital Drive, Carthage in front of Provision Ace. Tee up a scoop.
