A doughnut maker since before she could legally drive, Sarah Hargrove getsthe dough rolling at 2:30 in the morning.
“Anybody can order the ingredients but to actually make the recipes the old way, it takes special technique,” she says. Her method yields huge, fluffy and extra-sweet pastries.
The Florida transplant and her business partners recently opened Southern Angel Donut Co. on Central Park Avenue, near Olmstead Village, in Pinehurst.The most popular flavors are maple bacon, followed by cinnamon crumb cake and apple fritters.
