Ah, modern public transit — when a new and exciting journey isn’t complete without a stranger’s bare feet on the back of your chair. Thanks to the Three Rivers Land Trust, you can experience travel in the golden era of not wearing pajama pants in public during a Dec. 7 fundraiser.

Jazz on the Rails, a cocktail-fueled tour of Aberdeen Carolina & Western’s meticulously restored early 1900s train cars, will be led by docents in flapper dress. From 11-3, you’ll sip on a Bourbon Boxcar (Southern Grace Distilleries at Mt. Pleasant Prison) or a (Covington Sweet Potato Vodka).

It will include bites from Thyme and Place, a three-piece jazz band and a chance to support Three Rivers’ efforts to conserve land in the state. Tickets start at $75.

The historic train will be set stationary at Pinehurst No. 1 – 1 Carolina Vista in Pinehurst. Guests of this event will receive a custom made gift, along with raffle tickets for items unique to the counties supported by the Three Rivers Land Trust. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase.
