Jor’l (as in Superman’s dad) Campbell had been working in the restaurant business for 30 years when all his bad decisions caught up with him — in the form of diabetes, gout, and high cholesterol. It wasn’t until a friend suggested he listen to a Ted Talk about nutrition that he finally began to change the way he looked at food. Three years later, Jor’l opened JC’s Place to share his new philosophy.

Before you get intimidated by all the fresh greens, you should know JC’s Place offers comfort food alongside paleo, gluten-free and vegan options. You can enjoy a bowl of Crawfish Mac while that one super annoying, gluten-free friend orders Spaghetti Squash with Marinara. “What we eat matters. It really does,” Jor’l says. “I just want to give people an option that they can believe in.”

We recommend you try the Crawfish & Shrimp Po-Boy, and be on the lookout for a smoothie bar this winter.
