Surprise Your Earholes

There’s a certain charm to speakeasy style, and that’s exactly what The Sunrise Theater hopes to capture with its Tuesday Night Music Club. How it works: People sign up to be in the club and the event isn’t announced until a week or less before. It could be a live concert, it could be a niche biopic, an album listening party or another surprise.

“We wanted to be able to do more unique music events that we wouldn’t normally be able to do,” says Tim Russell, executive director of the Sunrise Theater. The Sunrise recently did a massive upgrade to its entire stereo system, which now has 25 speakers. “It’s almost acoustically perfect, so it’s a phenomenal place to listen to live music. It all really ties into Moore County turning into such a music town.”

The initial plan was to do a program once a month but the first night was so popular, the frequency could increase in 2026. “We want to do things that people can’t do at home. Moore County has grown so much that we can support this kind of stuff,” says Tim.

Tim loves watching people connect before or after events at the Sunrise, and is looking forward to that growing along with the music club. The next event will be sometime in January. Stay tuned by signing up here.
