Unleash Your Pole-tential
The poles are in. Empower Studio, the first pole fitness/dance studio in the area, officially opens this Saturday. Owner Devin Garner was a labor and delivery nurse for 17 years and now works in aesthetics. “It’s in my nature to want to empower women,” she says. The studio is located at 250 Olmsted Blvd. Suite A, Pinehurst.

“Pole fitness is a workout,” she says. “I really want to break the stigma. I hate hearing it’s for strippers or you can’t do it when you’re older. It shouldn’t be taboo. We’re just having a good time.”
Classes include pole fitness, sultry dance, heels class, floor work and conditioning / flexibility. There is also a boudoir photography area where you can book a photoshoot. “I wanted to bring something sexy to Moore County, a place for people to be themselves and not be ashamed of anything. I want everyone to find the beauty they already have and unleash it,” says Devin.
Devin is excited to see bachelorette, birthday parties and girls night groups come in for private rentals to learn something new. “You can laugh at yourselves here, no one cares.”
For now, she plans to be open Wednesday through Sunday for classes. You can do a single class drop-in, get a class pack or commit with a month-long membership of unlimited classes. Devin encourages everyone to come as they are. “It doesn’t matter what size you are. You can look sexy no matter what,” she says. Want to learn more? Take a spin around the website.
