Fetching More Space

Because even in this economy, we stay spoiling our pets. That’s why Gracie Scarboro opened Urban Pet Co. in December 2024, and why she’s expanding into the neighboring space in Southern Pines’ Princess Theater building. She’ll be offering even more holistic products for dogs and cats. A doorway has already been cut to connect the two units internally and once renovations are complete, shoppers will be able to enter through either storefront.

With the added space, Gracie plans to expand her inventory of raw foods, supplements, beds and enrichment toys. Ultra-durable dog toys are one of her most requested items, so she’ll be adding more of those too. In addition to the donations she already makes to local rescues, Gracie hopes to host events like adoptions or nail trim pop-ups. “Now that we have more space, it’ll make that easier,” she says. The current store hours are not affected by the renovations and she aims to have the expansion complete by early March. Bow wow.
