Are We There Yet?

Because we all need a little retreat from Moore County now and then and you’ve probably exhausted every list of places to go in North Carolina, we put together a not-so-average list of things that might be worth the drive. Tell Trip Advisor to up its game.

*Have double the fun at this double decker carousel in Kannapolis. Let us know if you go so we can live vicariously through you. There is also a train for your littles at Village Park, and you can check out the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame while you’re there.

*Let it all out at the Wreck It Rage Room in Durham, which is exactly what it sounds like. Sometimes you just need to let your intrusive thoughts win. Make an appointment.

*If you’ve always dreamed of flying and love adrenaline, try hang gliding in the Outer Banks. Take a beginner’s lesson on the dunes. Just don’t fly too close to the sun.

*Have a dining experience full of lore at Bigfoot Taphouse in Raleigh. It’s a pour-your-own-beer model, but don’t worry, there is wine too. You might even meet a hairy recluse — but if you really want a Bigfoot sighting, check out the nearby Uwharries.

*Learn something new at Hummingbird Candle Co. in Fayetteville, where you can make your own candle. Choose scents your sniffer will enjoy and BYOB so you can get … lit.

*Let out your inner child at the Art of Brick in Raleigh — a massive lego sculpture exhibit. All ages are welcome. The best part? You don’t have to worry about stepping on a rogue block. See more
