El Chapin II Grill and Catering held its grand opening Tuesday in downtown Aberdeen. Located in the spot that once housed La Poblanita and Mi Familia, the restaurant has a menu full of authentic Guatemalan dishes, plus a fully stocked bar.

During lunch or dinner, you’ll feast on Tamales Chapines, Pastelitos De Res, Caldo De Pollo (chicken soup) and more.

Owner Rony Ordonez says this is El Chapin’s second location. The family started the business in Durham in 2015 but wanted to expand to a place where they wouldn’t compete with another Guatemalan restaurant, and Rony fell in love with Aberdeen.

El Chapin has an indoor dining room and a few sidewalk bistro tables. It’s open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., at 106 W South St. Aberdeen
