If you missed First Friday in Southern Pines and can’t make the second Friday of the month for Live After 5 in Pinehurst, there’s another chance to get an early start on your weekend — because High Octane is making Fourth Fridays a thing in downtown Aberdeen.

“Now that it is getting more of a night life, the goal is to help introduce more people to downtown Aberdeen,” says part owner Nicola Squires. “It’s been nice to simultaneously support other businesses. We didn’t expect to be able to do that when we first opened.” In their five years they expanded from coffee, extended the hours and offerings to include alcohol and gift shop items.

High Octane was bringing in food trucks weekly but it soon became difficult to find one that wasn’t already booked. Nicola decided to focus on the fourth weekend of the month, when competing events were scarce.

  • The next Fourth Friday is May 27. You’ll find Puerto Rican food truck Xavi Davi parked outside from 5-8 p.m., live music from 6-8 p.m., plus beer, wine, cider, or coffee from High Octane. Come early and grab a seat or bring your own chair and park it on the downtown greenspace.
