These Are The Bomb

You know, because they’re literal bath bombs. Shannon Housel is creating a splash with her new company, 5 Little Ducks Bath Bombs. She initially created them to give her kids, all of whom struggle with eczema, more options during bath time. “In order to have anything that actually smelled good and looked fun, we had to make it,” she says. It took months of testing before the brand launched back in March. It grew faster than she expected, especially while juggling a full-time job and mom life, so she teamed up with a company to handle production.

Don’t worry, everything is still made in the USA using her original formulas. The bath bombs come in lots of fun shapes and there is also a shower steamer line geared toward adults.

The name is a nod to her five sons, aka her little ducks. “The back end of the business is to teach them responsibility and how to interact with individuals. This provides a good source for them to learn work ethic, responsibility and how to start conversation. I love seeing them get so excited.” Her boys’ favorite part of the job is picking out the rubber duck that goes with each order.

For now, Shannon is mainly at pop-ups but her online business is steadily growing. “It’s amazing to see how this evolved from making these in my kitchen to now,” she says. “I’m helping with a need that I didn’t know was so big.” For those who love to scrub-a-dub-dub, monthly subscription boxes are available. Check it out online or at Pop Up in the Pines this Saturday, May 10 at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities.
