The drinking patio we know and love at Southern Pines Growler Co. won’t be beer-less for long. When Southern Pines Growler Co. moves into its new home, Southern Pines Brewing Co. will take over the space on the corner of West Pennsylvania Avenue and Bennett Street. SPBC’s Micah Niebauer signed the lease last week, and has set an “optimistic” opening date of July 1.

SPBC’s brewing operation will remain on Air Tool Drive, and the taproom there will operate as normal. The new downtown Southern Pines outpost will feature SPBC beer as well as rotating guest taps.

“This is an incredible spot with a beautiful outdoor patio,” Micah said. “It’s been fun to jump into this as fast as I can.”

Charmed Salon, located behind the Growler Co., had plans to expand into the space. But after an extended closure due to COVID regulations, the salon is not moving forward with those plans.

In conjunction with the opening, Southern Pines Brewing Co. will release a pilsner produced in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce called #togetherwearemoore. Micah says the brew will be sold to local bars and restaurants for $1 per keg or case, that can be re-sold by that business for any amount — as a way to “help them get back on their feet.” Cheers.
