Recent Appalachian State grad William Clark started working as a dishwasher at New York Butcher Shoppe in 2019, and soon worked his way up to prep cook. His newest title is owner of a franchise location, which could open this spring at 1010 Old U.S. 1 in Southern Pines.

“It’s a great company, I like working with people and I love food, so I wanted to take my next step with a franchise in Southern Pines,” said William, who has family in Pinehurst. “What’s great about us is you can come in here when you need to throw something on the grill or when you need a quick meal to throw in the oven.”

New York Butcher Shoppe is supplied by Sysco and stocks beef, chicken and pork cut by an on-site butcher as well as take-and-bake meals, wines, gourmet cheese and international items. NY is in the name because the brand’s founders are from Brooklyn, but its 34 current locations are concentrated across the Southern U.S. — the original store was in Charleston.

There’s no social media presence yet for the 1,800-square-foot Southern Pines shoppe, so stay tuned to find out when you can try William’s favorite take-and-bake meal, the white chicken lasagna.
