On Saturday, Pinehurst residents Catherine and Neil Robinette took home trophies in the “People’s Choice” category for an incredibly extra performance at the Richmond County Hospice’s Dancing with the Stars fundraiser. Because a circus theme calls for a homemade swing, a ride on a unicycle, and … shirtlessness.
The couple danced to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and the crowd went, well — you can hear for yourself.
“I wasn’t thrilled about the commitment at first,” laughed Neil, who has ties to Richmond County through his family’s commercial real estate business. “But once we got into it, I really enjoyed it. We said if we’re going to do it, we’re going to do it big.”
That meant enlisting the help of Bridget Whitaker, an accomplished ballerina who met Catherine while teaching a class at Forte Fitness. Bridget spent three months helping the couple prepare. “They embraced my outlandish choreographic ideas and consistently exceeded my expectations,” she said.
Bridget may or may not be taking applications for next year’s DWTS. And we may or may not be looking for a shirtless partner. Hit us up.
