It’ll Buff Out

No, you’re not seeing double, you’re looking at identical twins. This is the team behind the Detail Machine, a local car detailing business that specializes in polishing and ceramic coating. Cody and Travis Sutis have always loved classic cars and began working on them when they were just 16 years old. Originally from California, the two found their niche in what they describe as “high end detailing,” meaning they’re not just there to clean your car but really make it shine and stay protected against elements and things like pine sap. “The forest is after your car for sure,” Travis jokes.

“Classic cars are our hobby but detailing is our career,” says Travis. So while they could practically build a car, don’t ask them to do maintenance, they save that for their own projects. They have worked on everything from Ferraris to cars that were sitting in a swamp for 20 years. “It doesn’t matter what car you have,” says Travis. 

“We’re suckers for a sentimental story,” says Cody. Customers often show up with inherited cars and Travis says they try to save cars from needing a full-on paint job. “The power of sanding and polishing is wild,” he says. 

Detail Machine has been in Moore County for six years now and the brothers just celebrated 1000 ceramic coatings locally and countless in their lifetime. Their twin-sense allows them to get jobs done quickly. “It’s kind of like a dance,” says Travis, “he knows what I’m gonna do and I know what he’s gonna do.” “We work with very few words,” says Cody, “We’ve always been best friends so there’s an understanding there.” Their shop is open by appointment only. See the, heh, details.
